What's a good cat name?
My birthday is next Wednesday and Keli, as an early birthday present, took me to a Pets LifeLine in Sonoma (it’s a pet shelter) and let me pick out a cat. This is one of the MANY reasons why I love her to pieces, she is one of the most unselfish people I have ever met. She’s allergic to cats and STILL let me get one. She likes cats but because she’s allergic to them she is much more of a dog person. So the simple fact that she even considered letting me/us get a cat made me feel very loved.
So the cat I picked out is 5 months old. She’s what “they” call a “Torby” because her breed is a mix of a Tabby and of a Tortoise Shell cat. She’s quite pretty. She’s a shorthaired cat and is pretty spunky. The only problem is the pet shelter gave her a name of “Missy” which annoys the crap out of me. I knew a girl in school named Missy who annoyed me so the Missy name has got to go.
But I need help thinking of a name for a spunky female cat. Preferable not something obnoxiously pet-like such as “Patches” and not something like “Joe”. Of cource, naming a female cat Joe would be pretty cool…
Here are the options so far:
- “Brody” – This was my idea. Brody is the name of the lead singer from The Distillers but that’s not why I thought of it.
- “Black” – When asked what she thought the cat’s name should be, Bailey promptly replied with this one.
- “Something food related” – This was Keli’s vote. I think she actually said it should be “Twizzler Feet”. She claims to be joking but I’m not so sure about that…
Please post in the comments if you have any name possibilities for our new cat. I’ll post a picture of it as soon as I can find the cable to hook my digital camera to the computer.
