The second most amazing sound in human history

I took an extended lunch today to go with Keli to her appointment with the midwives at the Womens Health and Birth Center near our house. The test results from all of the lab work Keli did a couple of weeks ago came back and they said everything looked perfect. At the end of the appointment we got to listen, for the very first time, to our baby’s heartbeat. I may be biased, but I do believe I was just fortunate enough to listen to the second most amazing, beautiful sound in the history of mankind.

The baby is about 3 months old as of this Thursday and that puts the tentative arrival date at March 5th. I feel old saying this, but you’ll all understand what I’m talking about when you have a kid someday. Not only is seeing your baby on an unltrasound increadibly cool and moving but hearing the heartbeat makes it so much more vivid. You can hear the “resting” heartbeat of the baby and as the doctor moves the ultrasound-wand-thingy around you can hear the heartbeat speed up and slow down as it reacts to the change in its environment. It is truly beyond words.
