Remember how Amber Frey put on the whole “I’m a victim, pity me” act during the Scott Peterson trial? Well guess what, she’s out to capitalize on the trial and death of Laci and baby Conner by writing and publishing a book about her “own story in her own voice”. I’m sure we all want to read about this woman’s life, simply because she was a big figure in the trial. I mean, I want to know everything about every one in the trial. What about those jurors that were given the boot? I want to know about their lives and hardships. How about the janitors, the security guards, the second cousin of Peterson, once removed? I’m sure their life was affected, so they should write a book about it! Oh, and what about Geregos? There’s a man I definitely want to waste time reading about.
Report: Frey Signs Book Deal
Len RamirezAmber Frey, the former girlfriend of convicted murderer Scott Peterson, could have a book published by February.
CBS 5 has learned that Frey has signed a deal with tell-all publisher Judith Regan. One source told us that the book has been fast-tracked, and could be printed and ready to go by February.
Frey’s attorney Gloria Allred would not confirm or deny the news of the deal, but said, “For a long time, I have said I hope that at an appropriate time that Amber has an opportunity to tell her own story in her own voice.”
Frey had a relationship with Scott Peterson before and after Laci Peterson’s disappearance. She secretly recorded a number of phone conversations with Peterson for police investigators, and those tapes were widely seen as very damaging to the defense.
“I’m very troubled that the announcement of Amber Frey’s book deal came before the end of this trial,” said legal analyst Dean Johnson. “I think it would probably behoove the defense to make a motion for a mistrial and put that on the record, because the fact that a material witness has a financial stake in the outcome of a trial is very troubling. It’s certainly something that should have been a subject for cross-examination.”

Pfft. I’d do that too. Whether or not she was a victim, why not make some money off of it? Why would a book deal give her a financial stake in the outcome? She could write it either way.
well, I guess I should have clarified myself in my post:
I’m fine with people writing books about real events and whatnot. I just think it’s increadibly tacky and makes you look like nothing but a gold digger when you are working on a book deal before an ordeal is even dealt with. I mean, the dude she apparently loved at one time was just sentenced to death less than a week ago and she’s already been working on a book deal?
At least wait a couple of months and make it not look like you’re just out for money.
Well, if she waited six months, the fury to buy the book would have gone down. It’s certainly a pragmatic decision that lots of people won’t be happy with, but as long as she was true to herself and ethical with respect to the trial, I see no reason why she should feel bad about getting the best she can out of a bad situation.
