I’m still alive

In case you haven’t noticed, I haven’t posted much in the last few days. Things have been on fast forward since before Christmas and when I’ve had time to post I haven’t really had my thoughts in order. So here it goes:

Christmas Eve
Christmas Eve we spent having Keli’s family over at our house. It was cramped but always nice to have everyone together for dinner and, of course presents. Keli’s parents really out-did themselves by paying for myself, Keli, and Keli’s two sisters Meg and Ashleigh to fly out to Oahu next September. Needless to say it was a very cool thing to open and see your flight itinerary and hotel brochure starting back at you. Needless to say we’re all on a mission to get back in shape for the trip. Good thing I bought a mountain bike with my Christmas bonus money!

Christmas Day
Christmas morning we spent, obviously, watching Bailey open her gifts from us and from Santa. Keli and I exchanged our gifts as well and she (as usual) blew my gifts out of the water by getting two of my Alan Forbes prints framed and matted. Gone are the days of admiring them from afar while they rest, rolled up in cardboard tubes. Now I just have to find my nails and have my dad bring over his cool new laser-level to help me hang them straight. We got Bailey all sorts of stuff but the thing that stopped the presses was a garbage can for her room. She even stopped opening gifts and ran up stairs to put it in her room.

I woke up with an upset stomach and so after presents I went to lay down for a power nap and Keli made her and Bailey ate breakfast. The whole day was kind of downhill from there. We went to my parent’s house where my sister, her boyfriend, our nephews and my grandma were all gathered for Christmas. By the time we got to their house I really wasn’t feeling good so I went to lay down a bit longer and, to make a long story short, spent the rest of the day, and most of the next two days, being the puking wonder. Don’t know what I had, but I lost a few pounds from not being able to keep anything down. Not even water.

Over all, the holidays have been good to us, aside from my ailment and my dad being rushed to the emergency room because he’s been coughing so much from the cold he has that he cracked a rib. He was rushed to the ER because he coughed and the pain was so intense he fell to his knees. I think the gods of the holidays had it in for us this year.

Project Baby
Last week was a blur of talk of Project Baby and lots of craziness at my jobs.

Last Tuesday we went to the baby doctor for a check up and everything it groovy. For the next 4-6 weeks we have checkup appointments every 2 weeks instead of once a month. From here on out, things are going to get very crazy. We’re picking up some baby stuff this weekend. Have to put away all of our Christmas decorations and what not. Tonight, and for every Monday night in January, Keli and I have our birthing classes where we get to pretend we’re in labor and stuff. Great fun.

Last night Keli and I typed up our Birth Plan of the things that are important to us at the Birth Center, if we have to go to the hospital, etc., of all the things we want to have happen or not have happen. Everything ranging from what medications Keli might want (in her case, she doesn’t want any), what tests we do and don’t want done on the baby when it’s born, even how we want people to keep an eye on Bailey in case she freaks out or if she wants to help out with the labor then to encourage it.

New Years Eve
New Years Eve I had to work at both jobs but then it was off to, as Keli affectionately calls it, my “Geek Fest”. A few guys from work and I have a game night on Friday afternoon/evenings where we mostly play D&D but also some Cthulhu, Poker, etc. After our Geek Fest we went to John’s house and played poker.

John’s wife made some very tasty food and I schooled one of the Sonic.net senior techs at basketball on the PS2.

Since I lost $30 in poker, Keli and I went home to ring in the New Year with her parents, sister and bailey who were back at our house. Shortly after midnight, I’m ashamed to say, I went to bed and quickly fell to sleep. I had been up since 3am the previous day.

New Years Weekend
The rest of the weekend was a mixture of visiting with parents, resting, watching movies, playing video games and just keeping a low profile. As Keli put it “This weekend was just what I needed without knowing it’s what I needed.”

I couldn’t agree more.
