I was waiting at Bailey’ school the other day, to pick her up, when I started talking to another member of the Stroller Brigade (more on this shortly). Mason was in a super happy mood and was making all sorts of goofy faces, giggling and making baby noises.
That lead to her telling me about someone she knows who, to say the least, is quite religious who has a theory about why we, as adults, experience deja vu.
Her theory is based upon the Christian belief that before we are born God already knows everything we’ll do or say, he knows what choice we’ll make when given an option, etc. So, her theory is that as babies, God shows us, in our heads, our entire life. Played out sort of like a movie. She say that’s why babies go though such a wide range of emotions back-to-back. if you’ve ever watched a baby, they’ll be increadibly happy, then without warning start crying, then screaming, then happy again and so on. Then when we’re adults when we experience deja vu it’s because we’ve already seen that frame of our life when we were a baby.
At first, and I didn’t say anything to the woman I was talking to, I thought her friend was off her rocker. But as I’ve thought about it over the last couple of days, I found I was curious, does anybody else out there have any theories as to why we experience deja vu or the feeling that you’ve re-lived that same moment in your life before?

This theory is amazing… I had never heard about it… wow. Up until now I thought that DeJavu had to do with dreams, I almost remember dreaming things before… but for me it had gone beyond that at times, like feeling like I had experienced something in another life. Now I have to sit and ponder this God video player kind of thing.
In all honesty, if that lady’s theory is “true”, then I find it rather mean that God would do that to us as babies. Think of some of the things people do in their lives and think how horrible it would be for a baby to experience all of that, ya know?
It does make you think, though, about things like that.
Well, I was not thinking that God will give a full fledge of emotions… but who knows. One of my firm believes in life has to do with what we experience as children and even related to mental health (now this is not factual just personal assumptions.) I believe that your brain can be affected by traumatic experiences during your childhood even affecting it to the point of mental illness… kind of like spoling your brain. I also feel that if your brain has too much exposure to too many things while you are child you can become tainted. It is hard to define what is wrong and what is right, I would think that a society like us would have a better way of knowing what is the right and wrong thing to do with children… but that is a whole other rant!
