Is it just me, or does the background music for the new Madonna song sound almost exactly like the music from the very first Zelda game?

The need to post, but a lack of words
November 23rd, 2005 — The Random Thinker
I haven’t posted much lately. Partly because things have been so busy, but also because I haven’t had the words to post the thoughts that have been rolling around inside my head the last bunch of days.
Damn kids…

Later this morning, at 11:30, Keli and I have to take Mason to his doctor for them to perform a bladder tap on him. He’s still not gaining much weight and, while it could just be that the two offices’ scales aren’t synched up, he seems to have lost about 4 ounces between last week and yesterday.
We’ve been packing that baby boy full of food as often as possible, and while he’s still happy, healthy and developing perfectly, he’s just not gaining weight. He was born weighing 9 pounds 14 ounces and as of yesterday he weights about 14 pounds 9 ounces (ironic, huh?). He doesn’t look malnourished or as if he’s not getting enough food. But at this point, we’ve put off the more invasive tests as long as possible.
This morning when we take him in, they’ll numb his belly and insert a needle into his bladder, though the belly, to get a ‘pure’ urine sample. His other urine samples we’ve obtained have had ’some sort of bacteria’ in it which ‘is sometimes normal and nothing to worry about.’ But since this is the next least invasive procedure left, that’s the one we’re doing next.
If that doesn’t yield any results, the next thing they want to look for is to make sure his small intestines are digesting his food properly, formed correctly, etc. To do that, they will have to knock him out and check out his stomach and small intestines with an endoscope. While doing so, they’ll also take a small sample of his intestinal lining to do a biopsy on it, to check for other stuff. When Bailey had her adenoidectomy they had to put her to sleep and that was the single hardest thing I’ve ever had to go through. Watching your child go from their normal self to slowly becoming just this. . . limp little person is hard to take. Even though you know that the chances of something happening while under anesthesia are very, very slim, that’s not what you’re thinking when you watch your kid slowly become unable to move or even hold their hands up to hug you.
So, needless to day, the endoscopic procedure is not something we want to do. Especially since poor Mason just turned 8 months, and he’s already had more blood work done, and undergone more testing than I have.
So, once again, if you can think happy thoughts for Mason, Keli and I would appreciate it.
Weekend football recap
November 14th, 2005 — The Random Thinker
So, first off, my Bucs won. Again. GO US! They narrowly beat the Redskins 36-35 which makes them 6-3. That’s impressive alone since last season they only won, something like, 5 games all season. But what’s important, is that the Bucs are running circles around Keli’s Buffalo Bills which are currently 4-5.
In any case, those of you who caught the Chicago Bears vs San Francisco 49ers game, WHOA! How much fun was that? Nothing like watching hotdog wrappers, beer cups and hats blowing around their hands as they’re ready to snap the ball. To be honest, that wasn’t a fair playing condition for anyone. How can you possibly train to play a professional football game under such strong wind? I guess if you trained in a wind tunnel you could, but I digress. Wind gusts of up to 47 miles per hour make it a tab bit difficult to make a field goal. Especially when the uprights are SWAYING BACK AND FORTH IN THE WIND!
The Colts are still undefeated. The punk-asses.
The Raiders lost again, which is always good news to me.
Oh yeah, and Keli’s Bills beat out the Chiefs 14-3. But, you know, since she doesn’t post on this site we won’t focus on them. =P
Reason number 5,240

Reason number 5,240 why your wife is a keeper (not that there was a doubt, mind you):
She goes in the store to buy some vegetarian chicken patties, but comes out also carrying a 12-pack of keg-can Heinekens.
Just for you.
Even though the she hates “man beer.”
