My review: "Catch Without Arms" by Dredg
After picking up Bailey from school, I took the kids to Best Buy because I wanted to pick up a copy of “El Cielo” by Dredg. Dredg has been around for a while. I first heard about them from a buddy of mine who lives in Canada that I used to play Dungeon Siege with online.
Well, Best Buy sucks and didn’t have a copy of “El Cielo” but they did have a copy of “Catch Without Arms” which is their latest release. Dredg has an interesting sound. They’re all rock with mellow, soothing vocals. The instrumental backup to the vocals is amazing.
Everything is perfectly aligned with each of the other elements in the equation. Most notably, to me, is the drumming. “El Cielo” is in my opinion their best album yet. It’s mellow enough to listen to first thing in the mornings, or to have on in the background on your iTunes play list. However when you need some searing guitar riffs or persistent drumming, they don’t let you down. Everything is exquisitely wrapped up in a package of audio euphoria. You can listen to a couple of songs from “Catch Without Arms” by going to Dredg’s MySpace profile
Even without hearing very much of their latest album, I knew purchasing it on the spot would e nowhere near a letdown. And best of all, it’s kid-friendly!
