Books boggle my mind
May 16th, 2006 — It boggles my mind
You read the title right - books boggle my mind.
Now, before you start thinking about how big a loser I am that books blow me away, understand that this subject has been pondered upon for many, many hours.
I am a fan of all books. Fiction and non-fiction. Biographies and autobiographies. Some fantasy and nearly all history books. I envy rich men who have nothing to do and vast libraries full to the brim with tomes of all kinds.
When I really stop to think about it, I can think of few better investments for the average cost of a book. For typically around ten dollars you can buy yourself an escape from the drudgery of your day. For packed in-between two covers are people, stories, places, events and ideas that can set your mind free and tempt you to immerse yourself within the pages.
It boggles my mind
May 16th, 2006 — It boggles my mind
Today marks the launch of a new series here at deguia.net. I spent many sleepless nights (not really) coming up with an appropriate title that would convey the purpose of my latest brainchild.
That name is “It boggles my mind” (patent pending, copyrighted and trademarked. But not really)
This series will consist of posts about things that, you guessed it, boggles my mind. I invite anyone who wishes to, to signup as a guest author to contribute to this series. I have no clue how long it will run, and that may depend on if we have others contributing to the series when/if the time comes where I have ruminated about those things which boggle my mind.
Check back later today for the first installment in this series later today.
Stadium Arcadium
May 15th, 2006 — Music, Reviews
Stadium Arcadium
Artist: Red Hot Chili Peppers
Media: CD
Genre: Rock
Year: 2006
Label: Warner Bros / Wea
UPC for CD: 093624999621
This is a must-own album. The Red Hot Chili Peppers are back with their trademark funk-rock in all its glory. While the two disc release, “Stadium Arcadium”, isn’t as crazy as some of their previous albums, it definitely shows their maturity as musicians and songwriters. There’s not one bad song on the release, and while some songs are pretty mellow, for the Chili Peppers, they don’t let you down and crank it up a few notches just at the right time.
I could go on and on, but why bother? All you need to know is the Red Hot Chili Peppers rock their asses off with “Stadium Arcadium” and you won’t be disappointed.
The album’s tri-fold packaging is pretty snazzy too. Disc one is blue and has a picture of Jupiter and Disc two is red and, you guessed it, has a picture of Mars.
