I must admit, before I had even heard one of this group’s songs, I was already pretty convinced I would end up buying their CD “A Beautiful Lie”. The lead singer is Jared Leto. For those of you who don’t know, he played the blonde haired guy in “Fight Club“, he played a junkie in “Requiem for a Dream“, a soldier in “The Thin Red Line”, and he was also in several other movies such as “American Psycho”, “Lord of War” and many others.
Even though he’s not typically known to be a big box-office name, I’ve always likes his roles, and choice of movies. It wasn’t until “Requiem for a Dream” (kick ass soundtrack, too!) that I really began to appreciate his talent.
When I heard that he was in a band, I was pretty convinced that it would be very good. The CD is only 10 official tracks long - there are two “hidden” tracks. This album is what I can only describe as oddly epic. Each song is packed with searing vocals, electric tid bits that tease your ears, thump-tastic drumming and great guitar and basswork. Not to mention their music videos. Their first video for this album was for the track entitled “The Kill” which was a creative homage to “The Shining”. Their second, more involved and as epically pleasing as their entire album, was the video for my personal favorite track, “From Yesterday”. The video featured old school samurai in armor, sword fighting, in what looked like a very colorful and eye-appealing feudal Japan.
For the price of this CD at Amazon, you can’t go wrong. If you’re curious, head over to Amazon.com or iTunes and check out a few clips of their songs. Then go buy the CD!

Jared Leto is now and will always be Jordan Catalano to me. Knowing my adoration of him, a friend gave me the album but I’ve been afraid to listen for fear it would pop my Jared Leto cherry.
Guess I’ll give it a try.
I was never big on the whole “My So-Called Life” thing. But I do definitely recommend the CD
Wait a minute! When did you go changing layouts on me? Looks great, Daniel. Now I’m off to read your recent entries.
And now the comment about this entry: Talent is a gift, you can’t buy it. I’ve seen Jared Leto in some of his roles and I agree with you, he’s good. I guess I will have to check the album you’re talking about.
