Steve Olson said it better than I could have
It’s a strange thing when you’ve been mulling over a thought in your head for a couple of days, only to stumble across a piece of writing in which someone has already discussed what you’ve been thinking about. The following is an excerpt from a post found over at Steve-Olson.com. This is one of “those” pieces of writing I only wish I had written. I love it!
When did America become a nation of frightened wimps? When did we cross the line from courage to cowardice? Was it sometime in the 1990s? After the Oklahoma City bombing? After the Columbine shootings? After 911?

Please go to Steve’s blog and read the rest of his post. Please direct any comments about what Steve wrote to his blog, he deserves to read feedback about his work.
I’d also like to hear your thoughts on this topic.

I’m sorry, Dan, but this guy lost me at “if we… then haven’t the terrorists already won?”
The people that attacked US assets in Kenya, Yemen, New York City, and Washington DC don’t seek to inflict on us the indignity of a security pat-down. They don’t care about our personal liberties. They have a rather long list of grievances and a rather straightforward list of goals. Our liberty isn’t threatened when our police take steps to ensure public safety. Our liberty is threatened when our police are shielded from requirements of transparency and accountability.
As for the business with drug testing on students and such, we’ve had busybody laws for as we’ve had European colonies on this continent. This isn’t anything new, it’s just something that a certain segment of the easily-enraged social libertarian sort like to wave red flags about.
Congratulations, you won a
I won?! OH GOD, PLEASE TELL ME WHAT I WON!!!!
I think he’s named you as a provocateur of deep thoughts, if his recent postings are any indication.
