The people that attacked US assets in Kenya, Yemen, New York City, and Washington DC don&#039;t seek to inflict on us the indignity of a security pat-down.  They don&#039;t care about our personal liberties.  They have a rather long list of grievances and a rather straightforward list of goals.  Our liberty isn&#039;t threatened when our police take steps to ensure public safety. Our liberty is threatened when our police are shielded from requirements of transparency and accountability.

As for the business with drug testing on students and such, we&#039;ve had busybody laws for as we&#039;ve had European colonies on this continent. This isn&#039;t anything new, it&#039;s just something that a certain segment of the easily-enraged social libertarian sort like to wave red flags about.</description>
