Blaqk Audio anyone?

Blaqk Audio anyone?

It’s been a while since I’ve written about anything AFI related, ever since my review about the disappointment with their latest release “DECEMBERUNDERGROUND“. Fear not, my weary readers! For AFI is back, sort of.

Make up wearing, tattooed front man Davey Havok and Jade Puget from AFI have been working on a side project called “Blaqk Audio”. Their MySpace profile for Blaqk Audio says they’re “2 boys in love with synthesizers and software.” They’ve been in such demand that they’ve even shot and released a short video to a new track, which can also be found on their MySpace profile.

I recall when AFI released “Sing the Sorrow”, fans got a tease of electronic euphoria in the track “Death of Seasons”. Shortly afterwards, I read an interview where Davey dropped the name of “Blaqk Musiq”. Fans everywhere freaked out fearing the breakup of AFI was imminent. Davey quickly released a statement that it was just an idea, AFI was not breaking up and there was nothing to worry about. I must say, I was disappointed because the small snippet in “Death of Seasons” left me wanting more and envisioning great tracks that were a hybrid of Daveys vocals and some techno-esque backdrop.

Currently, Blaqk Audio has given us only one track entitled “Bitter for Sweet”. I can’t wait for more and hope that Davey and Jade go far enough as to release an album. Some things are better in small numbers, and I hope Blaqk Audio keeps it short and sweet with a single release. I hope they don’t follow the curse of Chrystal Method and release album after album of mediocre albums after their super kick ass release of “Vegas”. But that’s a discussion for another post.
