Attention married Californians: Did you wake up this morning, lying in bed next to your spouse, feeling… different? Did you and your spouse have rocky morning? Did you get into a fight? Did you or your spouse say the dreaded words, “I want a divorce” or “I don’t love you anymore”? Is your marriage threatened?
No? Well that’s because the right-wing, “pro-family” conservatives were wrong.
I’ll let you all in on a little secret: Same-Sex marriage does not harm or threaten “traditional” marriages between a man and a woman! I’ll give you all a moment to let that sink and and let the shock wear off.
WASHINGTON (CNN) — In a much-anticipated ruling issued Thursday, the California Supreme Court struck down the state’s ban on same-sex marriage as unconstitutional.
California’s Supreme Court ruled Thursday that the state’s ban on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional.
Several gay and lesbian couples, along with the city of San Francisco and gay rights groups, sued to overturn state laws allowing only marriages between a man and a woman.
With the ruling, California becomes the second state to allow same-sex couples to legally wed.

I think it’s important to examine the statistics to see where conservative, married heterosexuals get off (no pun intended) when they claim that allowing same-sex marriage will threaten the very core of the institution of marriage. The CDC has stats available in PDF form of marriages and divorces, broken down by state, as recently as 2003. Unfortunately, California appears to be among many other states which do not track divorces - only marriages (states don’t make money by issuing “divorce licenses”).

Your right, I don’t know what the big deal about gay marriage is. The funny thing is that almost all of the “family values” conservatives, cheat on their wives. Maybe it’s the conservatives unhappiness in their own lives that makes them reach out for all the hate they preach. This whole right wing “Cristian” thing is really based upon their own unhappiness and unloving selves. I have yet to find in the Bible where Jesus tells us to hate gays, blacks, Illegal immigrants and socialized medicine.
I take issue with the local paper’s headline to the effect that gay marriage has been OK’d by the courts. Gay marriage isn’t OK. It’s FABULOUS.
As for how my marriage is going, that’s hardly the point. Look outside your window. Don’t you see the roving biker gangs of a degenerated society bereft of all stability and moral reference points. Buildings are burning, children are beating postal carriers to death in the streets. It’s chaos. Damn you, California Supreme Court! You’re to blame for this!
