R.I.P. George Carlin

by Daniel on June 22nd, 2008

This evening, comedian George Carlin died due to heart-related illness.

There’s not a whole lot to say. I’m actually very, very bummed out about this. George Carlin was one of those guys that always made you laugh, but was never really on the forefront of your mind.

Here’s a link to one of my favorite George Carlin routines.

  1. This is sad. Just a couple of days ago, a colleague and I were talking about how funny he was.

  2. I’m glad I was able to go see him perform last time he was in town. The foul-mouthed old fuck was brilliant.

  3. My co-workers and I were going to his last show in town at the Performance Venue Formerly Known As The Luther Burbank Center but never quite made it.

I’m really wishing we had. I would have loved to have seen him live.

  4. I got to see him live :(

I find it interesting that Burro, you and I all found this topic to be post worthy…

I think George Carlin not just as a comic but through comedy changed the world. He made us think in a different way about things that make sense only because society has taught us this way. He impressed me many times and even more so made me laugh!

Actually, I have never found George Carlin’s work to appeal to me. It was very bland. It seemed all the man wanted to do was swear and complain. Not funny the one bit. I still have memories of watching the comedy channel, and changing stations as soon as he came on.
