Conventional Toys Be Damned!
My wife and I were in the kitchen, after spending the morning running arrends to prepare for our daughter’s 8th birthday party tomorrow, when suddenly she asks me, “Has Bailey told you about her eraser family?”
:: Dumb stare ::
“Oh, Bailey, you should show dad your eraser family…”
So, Bailey ran up stairs and returned shortly with a handful of pencil-top erasers, of varying colors.
She proceeded to introduce me to each and every member of her eraser family. Trying hard not to laugh nearly killed me.

This is the dad of the family. His name is Bob. Bob hurt his legs in the “Eraser Wars” that occurred one recess. |

Mary is the mother of the family. She doesn’t really have a story, other than she pretty much runs the show, by my guess. |

Junior is the oldest child. According to Bailey, he spends a lot of time in his room for being mean to his little sister. |

Emily is the younger child. If you notice, she’s shorter than the other members in the family. This was not some clever way to symbolize that she is the youngest.
No, her “legs” apparently were lost in a tragic accident which involved her tipping over and bouncing off of Bailey’s desk in class. A passer by accidentally stepped on her legs and broke them off. Have no fear, for her legs are still there, just a bit more wee than they originally were. |
Apparently these eraser people are all the rage among third graders in her school. She even drew “surprise faces” on the back sides so that when they’re shocked she can spin them around and to show as much.
I’m so glad we spent ~$250.00 on a new bike for her birthday. Not to mention all of the Christmas presents we’ve begun to purchase.
Had I known that all we needed to do was spend 50 cents on some eraser pencil tops, draw faces on them and wrap them individually, we could have saved a lot of money!
