Run-In With A Wee Sharks Fan
Today, to commemorate the Chicago Blackhawk’s first playoff series victory since 1996, I decided to wear my Blackhawks jersey. In the mornings I walk Bailey to her line at school and as I was standing there with her this morning, a kid who I’m guessing was in third or fourth grade came up to me and the following conversation began:
Kid: “Are you a Blackhawks fan?”
Me: “Sure am!” Kid proceeds to glare at me in a I’m-just-messing-with-you sort of way
Me: “I take it you’re a Sharks fan…?”
Kid: Still scowling at me “Yes I am! Did YOU go to a game this season?”
Me: “Nope”
Kid: “I did…”
Me: “Who’d they play?”
Kid: “The Sharks played the Blackhawks”
Me: “Oh yeah? And who won that game?”
Kid: Stops scowling and thinks for a second “The Blackhawks!”
Kid smiles at me, then scowls again and runs off
Sorry, kid. I know it sucks to have your team end up losing quicker than the Blackhawks, but that’s the way it goes some seasons!
