Fahrenheit 451 Graphic Novel
Usually once or twice a week I checkout the Things From Another World site because they’re always putting up cool new things that play on my nerdy fansies. I first discovered the company when I was killing time at the Lowe’s Metreon in San Francisco while waiting for a movie to start. Their actual store is pretty cool, too, but their website is a little better, I think, because I can geek out from the comfort of my own living room.
Earlier today I found something really awesome (potentially) — the Fahrenheit 451 Graphic Novel. Apparently, this is the “authorized adaptation” and includes an introduction written by Ray Bradbury himself.
Fifty-five years ago, Ray Bradbury envisioned one of the world’s most unforgettable dystopian futures. Thinking is dangerous; trust only the state; turn in your neighbors; and, most important, burn all books.
The world of Guy Montag, a career fireman for whom kerosene has become perfume, has been translated by Tim Hamilton into unforgettable full-color art that uniquely captures Montag’s awakening to the evil of government-controlled thought and the inestimable value of philosophy, theology, and literature.
At $13.56 to pre-order it, I’m finding it hard to talk myself out of this. I always liked the novel, ever since reading it in high school, and if done right a graphic novel version of it could be very cool (no pun intended).
Anyone else think they’ll pick up a copy?
