Well, soon, anyway. I’ll turn 32 in December and so far, 31 has been a wild ride. When my grandmother passed away, one of the things that struck me most about her passing was how she didn’t do anything in life that she wanted to do. Now, let me clarify: Doing a damn fine job of raising four kids on her own, while holding down a regular job, was definitely a big task and she did it amazingly.
But she never really traveled and she didn’t do the things I know she probably wanted to do in her lifetime. She viewed life in a very utilitarian light and thought her sole purpose in life was to raise her children.
I don’t want to be old a long time from now, and realize that I never did the things I wanted to do. So I made a list of things I want to experience – an Adventure List if you will. I’m sure this list will grow and morph as time passes, but this is at least a way for me to set a goal and focus on it, to avoid being plagued by saying, “Maybe next year…”
