A Bit About Little 'Ol Me

About

I’m 30-years-old, born and raised in Sonoma County, north of the Golden Gate in California. I have three beautiful kids and have been married to my much better half since July of 2000 — one month after my high school graduation.

“I don’t know how to put this but I’m kind of a big deal. ” – Ron Burgundy

I’m currently unemployed and looking for work as a Web Producer and Web/Software Project Manager. I am also trying to break into the freelance writing and online journalism field. With the growing popularity of blogs, the competition gets more intense every hour.

I love great beer, unpretentious wine, tattoos, music, board games and anything else that gives me an excuse to let loose.

About This Blog

This blog was started some years ago, when I was working as a Technical Support Rep for a northern California ISP, Sonic.net. When MoveableType was really the first blogging platform around, I installed MT and used that to run the first three iterations of deguia.net. Why three iterations? Because MoveableType was lame and ate my blog. Three times. After that, I turned WordPress.

While this blog started as just a means to kill time and goof around, it grew into a way for me to develop my writing abilities and as an outlet for my thoughts. While I won’t shy away from writing about topics, there are a few that have become the cornerstone of this blog: My support of the West Memphis Three, my love of books & writing, commentary of current events.

Those who have followed my blog over the years will, I’m sure, have noticed a progression in my personal beliefs, world views and writing style. The person I was when I started this blog, is not the same person I am today. I think that’s a good thing. What good is writing if it did not lead to growth?

You’ll notice that there are some ads peppering my blog. While I try to “hand pick” the ads on my site, what appears here will never persuade me to write about one thing or another.

Writing this blog has definitely brought about some great opportunities, such as being one of the editors of Logtar’s blog and becoming a Contributing Writer over at Discovering Dad.
