About a week and a half ago we went in for an emergency ultrasound because the baby hadn’t been moving around or kicking as much as it usually did. Once babies start kicking and squirming around there’s usually a “schedule” to it – this baby tends to kick a lot after Keli eats and when she lays down in bed for the night – so when it strays from its normal routine that’s something to pay attention to.

Keli called her doctor and explained the lack of movement from the baby and they sent us to get an ultrasound about 2 hours later and, as luck would have it, almost the second we set foot in the exam room the baby started kicking and getting lively again. Damn kid is already making us stress out!

So after a thorough exam via ultrasound, the nurse said everything is fine. We were able to see our baby move around, we saw it stick its tongue in and out of its mouth, we watched its heart beat away and we even watched it move its tiny hands and fingers. We got a great picture of the baby’s face and, even at this point in the game, we can tell it’s going to have the same chubby cheeks Bailey and Mason had.

The only other unexpected thing is the confusion over the due date. Calculating the due date based off of ovulation charts the due date is December 18th. Going by the baby’s measurements the due date was December 8th and after the latest ultrasound and updated measurements the due date is December 6th. So really all we know is that the baby is due at some point in December. Knowing our luck, the baby will either arrive on my birthday (the 10th) or on Christmas morning.

If you’d like to check out the latest ultrasound pictures, click on the photo below (pardon the dust, literally, in the scans. I had to dig our scanner out of the back of a closet):
